Passover Cookie Trio

by Zehorit Heilicher, Tastemaker in Residence

This Passover arrives as we mark the one year anniversary of this pandemic and Moses’ cry to “Let My People Go!” resonates more than ever. Let us go - back to family dinners, back to dining out, back to embracing each other… This spring, hope is springing strong that we can see the end of this and return to a more normal life. However, in the meantime, there’s a holiday to celebrate and mark. We will be celebrating a virtual Seder (first night of Passover) with our out of town kids tuning in from San Francisco, seattle and Madison. Our local girl will be joining us in person. Yay!

SPRING IS HERE!

For our small Seder I’m excited to be making a Pavlova from Zoe Francois new book: Zoe Bakes Cakes. Zoe is local, accessible, fun and very thorough. The Pavlova is showy, light and will be perfect at the end of a Passover meal. One drawback to this Passover appropriate cake? It can not be shipped.

DOESN’T THIS LOOK AMAZING?

So what to send my kids for their distant Passover table? Cookies!!

Nutty melt in your mouth crescents from Israeli blogger Hen Shukrun (translated below), Orange-Almond paste gems from Martha Stewart and of course the quintessential Passover cookie the Coconut Macaroon, from The Kitchn.

So for the week of Passover, for Easter, or whenever you want a gluten free treat, fill your cookie jar with any of these three cookies and you are all set!

Welcome! I’m Zehorit and I am passionate about flavorful, seasonal and healthy dishes. Cooking is how I express love to my family and how I welcome friends into my heart and home. Sharing the Mediterranean goodness I was fortunate enough to grow up with through entertaining and cooking classes is how I pay homage to my mother, the kitchen queen. Here - is where I share it all with you! Let’s roll our sleeves up and get cooking!
