Minnesota BBQ Society Spring Training
by Ross Bowen, Tastemaker in Residence
For the Spirited Table readers in the Twin Cities area: The Minnesota BBQ Society is hosting our annual BBQ Spring Training Workshop on April 9, 2016 in the Andrew Boss Laboratory of Meat Science at the University of Minnesota Meat Science Department. Yes, there people that are meat professors, and they will teaching us about meat preparation in a classroom setting, complete with stadium seating and big screen amplification for those near the back of the room.
This is the fourth year we've done this. I will be there and will be sure to great anyone who comes through the Spirited Table website. There will be lots of BBQ'ed food available, since we'll be serving the four main meats (chicken, ribs, pork butt, and brisket) as well as sausage. This year our special guest is Dave Anderson. He founded the Famous Dave's BBQ restaurant chain, and he will be telling us his stories from the BBQ trail.
Your registration for the workshop includes a binder full of all the presentations, a University of Minnesota Meat Science hat and apron, breakfast refreshments, BBQ lunch, and product tastings.
Here is the agenda. I hope to see some Spirited Table followers there!
