Torticas de Moron

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 egg, yolk and white separated
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp lime zest
Sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325º
- Cream sugar and butter, add egg yolk, mix well
- Gradually add flour, salt, and lime zest until well blended
- Roll dough into 1-1/2” log. Cover tightly with plastic wrap, refrigerate at least 30 minutes or (up to 2 days)
- Slice about 1/3” thick, place on parchment covered cookie sheet. Brush each slice with egg white and a few drops of water. Sprinkle with sugar
- Bake about 25 - 30 minutes until lightly browned
Cook's Note
- If so desired, decorate with ribbons of melted chocolate
