Air Fryer French Fries

by Christina Meyer-Jax MS, RDN, LDN, CLT, RYT, Tastemaker in Residence

I was slow to join the air fryer movement, but it honestly revolutionized my cooking.  An air fryer is a fantastic way to reduce a massive amount of fat and calories without sacrificing taste and texture.  How? Using air to crisp and cook, there is little need for oil.

Ingredients: (this recipe can easily be doubled, check the size of your air fryer for quantity

Non-stick cooking spray (I like avocado oil)

1 medium potato (baker style or sweet potato), or 6 oz. Yukon gold washed and dried

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/8 garlic powder

fresh cracked pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer 380 degrees F

  2. Cut the potatoes lengthwise into ¼ inch thin slices (like sticks)

  3. In a medium bowl toss potato with seasoning and lightly coat with cooking spray

  4. Place potatoes in the basket in an even layer (try not overlapping), cook 12-15 minutes turning halfway until crisp.

  5. Enjoy! (Dip in my homemade frosty recipe if you chose next level indulgence, trust me it’s yummy!)
