Local Food is Essential - Take the Pledge!
The COVID-19 pandemic is creating unexpected challenges for many local food growers and makers who are facing reduced market options as a result of restaurants, schools, corporate campuses, and other buyers being closed. MCFM teamed up with other local organizations to create the Local Food is an Essential movement to encourage customers to eat local to help small-scale, local farmers survive this crisis.
Carrot Top Pesto
Rather than tossing those beautiful carrots tops in the compost, add them to your meal! Carrot leaves have a mild taste that pairs well with basil and garlic in this sauce. Pesto can also be served with pasta, on sandwiches, or as a party dip. Consider adding roasted or grilled vegetables, salad greens and/or a grilled Sunshine Harvest Farm chicken breast, grass-fed steak or other protein of your choice to this recipe to make it your #WeeklyMarketMeal
Help us ensure a healthy environment for everyone.
The State of Minnesota considers farmers’ markets essential grocery providers, and we plan to remain open to serve our community every Saturday, May through October unless otherwise directed by officials. Farmers’ markets are a vital part of our food system and are essential to our farmers.
