Flowers & Lower Temps
by Reba Berge, Tastemaker in Residence
The temperatures are changing and it’s a good reminder that temperature control is important to the longevity of cut flowers too!
Most flowers do well with a storage temperature of 35 – 40 degrees. This temperature slows maturity and allows for maximum benefits. But when you take the flowers outside to transport them for example, and the temperature is below 35 degrees, be sure to cover them with a plastic bag or two to prevent any damage to the flowers. If it feels cold to you, it probably feels even colder to the flowers!
