Top O’ The Mornin’ To Ya!
by Teri E. Popp & Laura Chin, Tastemakers in Residence
St. Patrick’s Day—a Roman Catholic feast day celebrating the patron saint of Ireland, gave W3 Book Club a great opportunity to don green attire and honor the Emerald Isle. Our host chose “Thirteen Ways of Looking,” a novel by Colum McCann, an Irish immigrant to the United States.
Even though most of the novel occurs in America, it movingly deals with contemporary issues taking place in both the United States and Ireland. The novel explores how one simple act can have world wide consequences.
Our host served a menu focused on European cuisine with an Irish lilt, including:
Irish Working Man’s Cheese Platter
Grilled Salmon Filets with Hollandaise Sauce
Roasted Asparagus
Pan Fried Potatoes
Baguette
Bread Pudding with Ice Cream
W3 Book Club hopes you enjoy St. Patty’s Day and offers you this old Irish toast in closing:
“May the leprechauns be near you,
To spread luck along your way.
And may all the Irish angels,
Smile upon you St. Patrick’s Day.”
