The Rosie Project
By Teri E. Popp and Laura Chin, Tastemakers in Residence
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
For W3 Book Club, we usually theme our meetings to the book; but, sometimes, we can tie in a holiday as well. Fortuitously, love was in the air for our February book club featuring “The Rosie Project,” a novel by Graeme Simsion.
Our host, Jodene Marquis, focused on all things related to Valentine’s Day for her decor and menu! From hearts and flowers, to lovely, handwritten Valentine cards made out individually to all of her guests listing all of the reasons why she loved each of them, love was in the air!!
Her romantic, red and pink focused menu included:
- Pink Cadillac Margaritas
- Rose Champagne
- Various Red and White Wines
- Salami and Cheese Rolls
- Wasabi-Coated Flying Fish Roe
- Party Nuts
- Mango Avocado Salad
- Loaded Baked Potato Soup
- Lobster Salad - served with Arugula and Citrus Vinaigrette
- Asparagus Garnished with Deep Fried Leeks
- Molten Chocolate Cake and Ice Cream Adorned with Hugs and Kisses
We even managed to share this lovely evening with one of our book club members who could not attend due to her travels. Nothing quite says love like remembering to include your friends when they can’t be with you!
And, even though my daughter’s pretty certain we just get together to party, we did discuss this charming little novel about a genetics professor who starts on a quest to find a perfect mate, but instead finds out that true love doesn’t necessarily mean perfection.
