There isn’t a hotter trend than the farmhouse style in residential design. Our Interior designer Barbara's take on this style is a twist of warmth inspired by baking bread and fresh pastry pies. Warm hickory floors blended with a patterned star tile grounds the kitchen space. She featured chocolate and white crisp cabinetry topped with black and white quartz countertops – all centered with a classic stainless bridge faucet. This is a space where memories are made as you create and share all those celebratory meals for decades to come. It’s where the heart of the home resides encircled with America’s heartland.

After black and white, the next hottest color trend is a blue for kitchens and baths. From navy to royal, blues are a close second to white for baths. The reason is the color of water—variations of blue like the seas. The inspiration came from little fishing villages on the Mediterranean. We included lots of hues and textures, patterned encaustic tile, vintage flow blue pottery, chrome fixtures, Turkish towels and sea glass. Barbara also included classic Italian marble and white marble flooring with just enough patina to feel old world. And the beach sand was thrown in for good measure.

Bar mixology is a magical trend of powerful potions all blended together for that soothing time at the end of a day. We designed a smoky textural space for the ultimate man cave in that sophisticated urban loft environment. Barbara was inspired by men’s suiting, sleek copper tones with loads of texture - from ombre felting to carved travertine and rustic split wood flooring. We matched bar and kitchen faucets to coordinate the modern open floor plan featuring mid-tone cabinetry washed with a black glaze and topped with mica flecked jet countertops and sexy black lacquered accents.

Gray All Day started out as a neutral story that turned into a texture story. Barbara was so in love with the idea of mixing mirrored beveled glass with matte finished grey cabinetry that she twisted everything into a style she calls Organic Regency. The hard working elements here include an industrial faucet, quartz and solid surface countertops and a pewter charger. You'd find in all these monochromatic pieces in her kitchen today. This calming space is all grounded with a vintage-inspired limed oak flooring that is one of her favorite floors of all time. Smell the fresh French braided bread?

What if you could start with a giant open factory space as your residential loft? We'd begin by warming up the open space with woods and textural tile. Then keep everything else modern with lots of white and touches of charcoal like the matte black faucet. Industrial lighting? Sure—keep it simple and custom. Barbara would also add a nod to cement with something even better—grey quartz countertops and solid surface. And what about those woods—that gorgeous custom slab wood cabinet door and timber oak flooring? Yes to both!

So how do you pronounce "hygge"? With gah? And a hoo? It means a type Scandinavian coziness. Our inspired design is to clear the clutter and create an environment where you can partake in life’s pleasures. So how do you design that into a kitchen? Barbara chose white washed pine floors, warm woods, lots of white tile and countertops with a stainless simply designed faucet. Everything has a purpose here and nothing goes to waste. Seafoam green? Yes, if it’s mixed with a touch of gold and then it’s modern again. The two selected cabinet styles are modern and traditional for the Florida Keys colonial vibe that Barb's grown to love. White countertops that have just the right amount of texture mix with golden touches for a thoroughly modern master bath. The honed surfaces of the mosaic tile and pottery bring a clean, rustic, outside element indoors. Grey flooring is a subtle wood tone that almost looks like washed stone and keeps everything light and airy. For that spa feel there’s a hand shower that delivers six functions of water therapy for the soul. Soothing, isn’t it?

This kitchen was inspired by three different eras: the 1940s, the 19th century and today. The idea was to create a modern kitchen with historic details that would have a country garden attached. It’s an eclectic mix of refined custom cabinetry, parquet floors, carved marble and herringbone glass tile. Barbara chose mid century shapes, pewter, garden grown vegetables and loads of counter space for preparing all those organic meals. Primarily a neutral space, the sparkle of the quartz counters builds an upscale surprise in this French country design.
