I'm married to a Veteran of the Vietnam WAR. I did not know him during this time of his life and although I've lived with him now for 31 years, I still do not always grasp the depth of his pain over loosing friends and fellow soldiers or leaving family behind for months/years at a time. These are hard enough but knowing him, one of the hardest seasons to forget is what they came home to or in some cases, what they endured and dealt with not only mentally but physically. 

No thanks, only scorn. No parades, only riots. No respect for those who had lived through or died during it. 

I can't remember exactly where we were the first time someone said, thank you for your service; but I will never forget the look on his face. To see him now recognized as a Vietnam Veteran and to experience the joy, gratefulness and healing it brings, is beyond any words I have. 

Seek out a Veteran today and everyday and well...Make their day!
