Locavore Farm Dinner
by Bridget Levin, Tastemaker in Residence
Every summer we head out into the Minnesota countryside to partake of a locavore farm dinner. We have eaten outstanding meals on goat farms, sheep ranches and heritage pig farms. We’ve dined in sweltering heat, lightning storms and perfect summer evenings with just enough breeze at dusk to keep the the mosquitos at bay.
There is nothing like the pastoral settings or the chance to talk with the farmers who grew the food. Any romantic notion about gentleman-farming is quickly dispelled when the reality of the daily grind of farming is outlined in detail.
Add in the artistry of local chefs creating fresh masterpieces right on site and you have the makings of a memorable summer bucket list evening for people who love fine food grown in our backyards.
