A Memory of Dr. Angelou
by Cindi Sutter, Founder of The Spirited Table®
I never felt the joy of meeting Dr. Angelou. But if your life is a reflection pond of those you choose to share it with, the obvious answer = lively and inspiring. My guess is, those closest to her had a certain sparkle.
My first indirect encounter with Dr. Maya Angelou was quite a few years ago. There were some hard business issues that needed to be resolved. All I can say is her team handled themselves with business savvy, and a splash of honesty and fairness.
This same gracious business manner persisted with her assistant who is a lovely older woman; always on point and helpful, but never without a hint of southern grace. This through line continued with her publisher who recently accepted my ideas for consideration and took the time to respond to my emails and update me on the status of my request.
So today, like so many before us, we credit her and grace Today’s Table with a twist of her inspirational words; They may forget what you ate and drank, they might forget what you talked about, but they won't forget the experience. That's a Spirited Table®.
To her friends and family we offer our condolences while at the same time saying thanks for sharing her and the wisdom her words provided.
“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” - Dr. Maya Angelou
