French Presses & Clear Channels

by Cindi Sutter, Founder of The Spirited Table®

French Pressed coffee is my favorite. It takes a bit more time, but worth the effort.

I recently broke my very old one and this shiny new one has a great feature. Before the coffee is pressed you put the top on to keep the water hot and let it brew. This press has 2 spout filters. One side is solid and designed to keep the heat in until the coffee is brewed. The second has a mesh filter to pour through to catch any runaway sediment.

If I am in a hurry, I forget to twirl the top around so the mesh is over the pouring spout. Pouring through a solid barrier results in a blocked channel and a bit of a mess. Pouring through the mesh provides a filtered, clear and tastier cup of coffee.

This is a perfect example of what I call “Clear Channel Living.” Excess, overload, clutter in our minds, unfiltered voices going into our head all block the clear channel. Meditation, prayer or listening never result in the clearest channel, unless the obstructions are removed.

“A relationship with God is just like every other relationship in your life in one way, it begins with a dialogue. The clearer the channel the better. He wants to be our guide, so tell Him what you are experiencing and seek His advice. Little things from Him become Big things for me.” - Cindi Sutter

Have you ever thought of the Joy that the patient, gentle, loving obedience of My disciples brings to My heart? I know no joy such as the joy I feel at the loving trust of a dear one. - (Excerpt from God Calling)
