A cupcake birthday table for boys or girls
by Cindi Sutter, Founder of The Spirited Table®
In my opinion, birthday celebrations that occur between Thanksgiving and the middle of January can either be an after thought or amazingly special. Having a birthday during this "holiday crazed" timeframe I can speak from experience.
You know what I am talking about, it's really not ok to send a Christmas and birthday gift together to a 5 year old, or maybe even a 50 year old. Dad nab it, it is still my birthday. There is a certain high profile person who made it clear to all those around her, that her birthday was truly a National Holiday. That is going a bit far, but here is an idea that just might help you make your child's birthday party special, with items you might have on hand.
Start with some fabric, it does not have to be a table clothe. Then add a hula hoop, and a container of your choosing and top it with a beach ball surrounded by cupcakes.
Now fluff and puff it accordingly for your little princess who loves pink. Use the pink dishes to serve the cupcakes and the inexpensive cake container for flowers. The glasses are plastic and very mobile. After the cupcakes are devoured, give each child a beach ball or hula hoop (these were $3.99 and $1.99 respectively) and send them outside; let the games begin.
The young prince in your life will like the orange version better and replace the beach ball with a football, baseball or basketball and you are good to go.
Don't over think it. Use what you have in your home, you might be surprised. I didn't buy one thing. So I was surprised when my beach ball and hula hoop used for practicing my golf swing, came in so handy. My golf swing still needs improvement but the table is happy!
