Backyard BBQ—The “New” Favorite Dining Spot

by Christina Meyer-Jax, Tastemaker in Residence

Just like the late great Prince was reported to have said, “For whoever is claiming they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!” I would say the backyard BBQ has never left as the royalty of outdoor dining.

With the surreal era of stay-at-home, the backyard BBQ with your quarantine partners is Spring 2020’s best “new” place to be.

The cool thing is there is no downside to outdoor grilling.  You get fresh air, don’t mess up your kitchen, and it lends itself to exploring new and flavorful foods.

Since I’ll be dining al fresco via my deck much of the month, I’m going to give it a proper name:

Jax Lakeside Lounge + Smokehouse

At this “fine” establishment we are going to boredom bust by theming it up with food, drinks, music, attire (need to stop wearing yoga pants), and table decorations.  With summer close behind, we will also be focusing on getting the healthy meals back into a solid rotation. ☺

I’m gluten-free, and also sensitive to certain grains, so my friends at Planet Princess Foods hooked me up with some samples of their amazing grain-free, protein-rich buns.  Honestly, sometimes I just don’t want to skip the bun when enjoying grilled sandwiches. And for those looking for a delicious paleo and keto-friendly bun these have you covered there too.
