Secret to Success with Bromeliad Plants

by Reba Berge, Tastemaker in Residence

The bromeliad plant forms a vase-like structure as it grows. Instead of watering the soil/organic material around the bromeliad which would cause it to rot, it is best to keep water in the vase of the plant where it can draw water as needed. Keep the central ‘vase’ filled with water. Empty and refill the ‘vase’ every 1-2 months.

This is something I always mention to customers when they purchase a bromeliad here at the shop. Since it’s watering method is unlike most plants.
