We All Scream for Ice Cream!

As summer unfolds, the seasonal fruits tempt us with delicious sweet options. Yet, as we wipe our sweaty brows, even us, dedicated cooks are reluctant to turn on our ovens to create another fruity summer dessert. My favorite quick solution for a cooling summer sweet is borrowed from the ever-clever Italians: Affogato! 

Affo – what? You say… Don’t panic – in its simplest form; Affogato is merely an ice cream scoop topped with espresso (or strong coffee). Since there are only 2 ingredients in this dish, you just need to make sure that both are of high quality. 

Of course, once you get the hang of this, (which is not hard, right??) there are limitless options: add liquor, chocolate or caramel sauce, nut or fruit toppings – whatever your heated mind can conjure and then just sip leisurely and enjoy the cooling effect!
