Dinosaur Bar-b-que Story + Recipes + Gift = Father's Day

by Barb Hamilton-Sustad, Tastemaker in Residence

I want to share a great recipe as well as (what I think at least!) is a great Father's Day gift idea.

The Dinosaur Bar-b-que is legendary in upstate New York where I am from. The concept was born at at a Harley Rendezvous, and has since grown from the first location in Syracuse New York to eight locations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. It’s patrons include a wide variety of people from bikers to businessmen, brought together by their love of good bar-b-que.

I am generally not one to follow a recipe; I look at it more as a suggestion and I have what some would call (and have) a ridiculous number of cookbooks.

Hands down, this is one of my favorites and I have learned to follow the directions – in this case, it pays off.

The book includes a fun story of how it all started and a number of quotes and sayings from patrons taken directly from the bathroom walls. Check out the website link below for more information and ordering details.

Check out the recipe for the Mutha Sauce.

I make a big batch and freeze it as it goes on everything. You can also order the sauces on line for gifts or just to make life easier.
