Mother’s Day – A First

One of my favorite spots in the Twin Cities to celebrate a holiday, such as Mother’s Day, is the elegant Calhoun Beach Club. Built in the early 20th century, this restored club features large arched windows that let in an abundance of natural light and a spacious patio with stunning views of Lake Calhoun.

For the past several years my husband and I have toasted our mothers with mimosas and a delicious brunch catered by D’Amico.

At last year’s brunch I was pregnant with our first child. It’s hard to believe a year has passed and our baby boy will now be joining us at the table. This year I will toast my mom with a new understanding of what hard work this role of “mom” is. I will raise a glass to my mother-in-law with even more appreciation for the son she has raised. And lastly, I will express gratitude for my husband’s support in this newfound role of motherhood. It is an adventure; one that should be celebrated (in style).
